Peanut Butter 'n' Jelly Shakes
This is a Taste of Home recipe I came across a few days ago. It looked really tasty and fun, so I decided I'd give it a go. I'm glad I did. This was a yummy, frothy, smooth drink that both Zaylee and I really enjoyed. She's still slurping hers up right now, actually - savoring every little dribble!
I substituted the milk called for with dry milk. We have a lot of powdered milk right now, and are running low on regular milk. A shake is the perfect use for powdered milk if you don't care for the taste - especially a shake like this, where the peanut butter and banana flavors totally mask the flavor of the milk.
Peanut Butter 'n' Jelly Shakes
2 cups milk (or 2/3 cup dry milk and 1 3/4 cup water)
1 ripe banana, sliced
2 tbsp. peanut butter
2 tbsp. jam, jelly, or preserves, any flavor
1/2 tsp. vanilla
*Cheap tip: We never use real vanilla extract - vanilla flavoring is much cheaper and tastes exactly the same.*
In a blender, place all ingredients; cover and process for 3 minutes or until smooth. Pour into chilled glasses; serve immediately.
If you want your shake extra frothy and cold, toss in some ice cubes as well.
Oh my goodness. I love a good pbj on fresh bread. I'm not sure I could sell this one to my kids though. I'm trying to talk them into strawberry smoothies and that's a hard sell.
ReplyDeleteYou have some great recipes. where are you located in Idaho?
MMMM! I love milk shakes or smoothies period, but peanut butter is my favorite flavor in the world! (PB&J's aren't too bad either... hee hee)
